The Loopler Demo: Play, Versions & Save Transfer
The official version to download for the current PC Demo is The Loopler Demo on Steam, app 4154070. It is separate from the full game, app 4150860, whose Steam page lists a September 11, 2026 release date. Mheep also hosts an HTML5 browser Demo and preserves the GMTK 2025 prototype, so “the Demo” can otherwise point to different builds.
Save-transfer answer: In an August 27, 2026 developer reply, Mheep said updated Steam Demo progress will not transfer to the full game.
Which version should you play?
| Edition | Where | Status at the September 11 check | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Updated Steam Demo | Steam app 4154070 | Playable Demo | Current build practice and guide context |
| Steam full game | Steam app 4150860 | Release date listed as September 11, 2026; check Steam for current unlock or purchase status | Confirm current full-game availability |
| HTML5 browser Demo | itch.io browser Demo | Playable in browser | Quick browser access; separate feature/input scope |
| GMTK 2025 prototype | itch.io jam version | Preserved historical prototype | See the original jam design |
| Steam Playtest | Steam test context | Withdrawal was announced with the August update | Historical testing context, not the default Demo link |
Steam Demo and edition boundaries
The February Steam Demo is app 4154070, not a free install button attached to the full game's app ID. The official Demo store page is the safest route because it keeps installation, supported system requirements, and the current app identity together.
The August updated Demo is also the scope for this site's build guide. Older videos can still be useful, but specific balance advice may describe the early February snapshot instead.
Browser Demo and jam prototype
The HTML5 browser Demo and the GMTK 2025 prototype have different itch.io pages. The developer explicitly described the Steam version as an expanded version while preserving the jam entry. The prototype's released status does not mean the Steam full game has launched.
The browser Demo lists mouse, controller, and touchscreen input on its own page. That supports browser touch input for that edition; it does not establish an Android or iOS release.
What happened to the Playtest?
The August update announced that the Steam Playtest would be withdrawn. Treat it as a separate historical test context, not another name for the public Steam Demo. Available announcements do not establish whether every previously entitled account retained access.
Does Demo progress transfer?
No. The developer's August 27 answer says Demo progress will not transfer to the full game. Plan to begin the full game separately even if you have completed substantial Demo progression.
The August 23 announcement also said the updated Demo would reset earlier Demo progress. Those are two different transitions:
- earlier Demo progress to the updated Demo was reset; and
- updated Demo progress to the full game will not transfer.
Avoid the wrong download
- Use the official Steam Demo page for the downloadable current Demo.
- Use Mheep's itch.io pages for the browser Demo or preserved prototype.
- Do not download an executable from an unofficial mirror.
- Check the edition name before applying a build guide or platform claim.
